St Mary's Church Appledore

St Mary's Anglican Church The Anglican Parish Church of St Mary is located on the Quay overlooking the River Torridge in the picturesque village of Appledore in North Devon.

St Mary The site of St Mary's Church is believed to have been used for Christian worship since the earliest of times, and certainly during the Middle Ages a chapel dedicated to St Anne (thought to be the mother of Mary, Our Lord's mother) stood on the land in front of the present Church: this area is still known as Chapel Fields. Church History

The worship covers a very broad spectrum of music, liturgy and style, ranging from The Eucharist to lay led family services and the weekly children’s service “Church on the Mat”. Lay involvement and leadership has been encouraged and now forms an integral aspect of Sunday Worship. There are three Readers (licensed lay ministers). The choir is growing in numbers and has a versatile repertoire from classics to modern songs.

The Pastoral Care Team (part of the Mission Community wide team) delivers Home Communions, bereavement visits, hospital and home visits to those in need.

A joint team with the local Baptist Church delivers 'Open the Book' in school weekly.
